Coffee

Roasted beans, brewed black and bitter. Night watchmen and scholars swear by it.

Coffee is administered through ingestion. After one round, a creature that drinks it shakes off some of its exhaustion and grows sharp-eyed, but jittery. When it wears off, the exhaustion comes back worse, unless another cup puts it off.

Valerian

A rank-smelling root, the herbalist's remedy for sleeplessness and nerves.

Valerian is administered through ingestion. After one round, a creature that takes it grows calm and steady, and taken before resting, it sleeps better. It slows the body, though, and its smell carries: beasts and predators come looking.

Strength Effect Side effect Price
Single strength +1 on Startle and Demoralized trials. Taken before resting, +1 health and +1 magan from that rest Slow phase. Its smell draws beasts* 1 sp
