Asura

Asura are beings sustained by Sacred magic — the force of life, purity, and restoration. They are not a primordial category of being. They are what numen become when mortal worship assigns them to the Sacred half of the moral framework. Angels, celestials, and divine guardians are numen reshaped by faith into embodiments of the Sacred.

All creatures in this file are Asura Yazata (Sacred) — lesser Sacred beings that serve or emanate from the Amesha Spenta (Asura numen).

Builder notes: Asura are the least populated combat-creature domain because most Sacred beings encountered by PCs would be allies, patrons, or narrative forces rather than enemies. The creatures below represent situations where an Asura opposes the party — a guardian they must bypass, a being whose purpose conflicts with theirs, or a corrupted angel. These are proof-of-concept stat blocks, not a comprehensive bestiary.

Classification package (all Asura): - Benefit: Immune to Sacred damage. (Sustained by Sacred magic — Sacred energy is native to them.) - Cost: Impotence on trials vs Profane damage. (Sacred nature is universally opposed to Profane.) - Connected to Sacred magic. (Casters need Sacred Form to charm, bind, banish, or otherwise magically interact beyond dealing damage.)

These are free and inherited by every Asura creature, including Minions.

Cherub (Tier 3 Champion)

Division 6, Tier 3, Champion. 1×1 Asura Yazata (Sacred).

Guardian, Threshold Keeper

A Cherub is not a chubby infant with wings. It is a guardian — the one that stands at the threshold. Cherubim are bound to guard a specific place, object, or being, and they do not leave until their purpose is fulfilled or their ward is destroyed. They appear as composite beings: part beast, part human, part something that doesn't map to mortal taxonomy. Eyes where eyes shouldn't be. Wings that fold in geometries that hurt to look at. Their presence radiates Sacred energy that burns the profane and unsettles the mortal.

Attributes:

STR AGI PHY END INT WIS CHA PER
16 (T4, d6) 12 (T3, d4) 16 (T4, d6) 14 (T3, d4) 14 (T3, d4) 16 (T4, d6) 14 (T3, d4) 18 (T4, d6)

Tier Budget: 4+3+4+3+3+4+3+4 = 28. Budget for T3 Champion = 28. ✓

Stat Value
Attack (Flaming Blade, Heavy 1H, Moderate, Single) d10 (DTD) + d6 (PHY) Cutting. Exploding. (Attribute: PHY)
Health 14 + 6d4 + d10 (~32)
Resistance Budget 60: Cut 8, Cleave 8, Crush 8, Pierce 8, Puncture 8, Profane 0, Fire 8, Primal 7, Void 5
Trials 1d6 + Attribute TD
Defense d10 (DTD) + d6 (PHY) + applicable resistance. (Attribute: PHY)
AP 3 (max 2 attacks)
Speed 6 (30 ft) land, 10 (50 ft) fly
Footprint 1×1 (1 sq)
Reach 10 ft

Passive:

Yazata (Sacred) (Classification, no slot). Immune to Sacred damage. Impotence on trials vs Profane damage. Connected to Sacred magic. (Classification package.)

Flaming Blade (Ability slot 1). If the Cherub's Cutting damage deals damage to durability or health, the target takes 3 Fire damage (flat, CHA Tier). No explosions on the Fire portion.

Sacred Aura (Ability slot 3). Creatures within 20 feet that enter the aura on their turn or end their turn within it take 3 Sacred damage (flat, no trial).

Abilities:

Smite (2 AP, Attack. Ability slot 2). The Cherub adds its CHA die (d4) to the attack roll. Against Daeva/Undead, Superiority (explosion range extends by 1 on all dice). Full Smite attack: d10 + d6 + d4 Cutting, plus 3 flat Fire if it gets through.

Rebuke (1 AP, Action. Ability slot 4). The Cherub speaks a word of divine authority. One creature within 30 feet must succeed on a WIS trial [7] or advance Demoralized by 1 tier. This trial is Sacred in nature.

Agathodaimon (Tier 2 Leader)

Division 4, Tier 2, Leader. ½ Asura Yazata (Sacred).

Good Spirit, Protective Genius

A small protective spirit — a guardian of a person, family, or household rather than a place. Each agathodaimon is bound to a specific creature or lineage, remaining near its ward and warding away evil. They appear as luminous serpents, small winged figures, or simply as a warm presence. They are not powerful combatants — their strength is in protection and bolstering those they watch over.

Attributes:

STR AGI PHY END INT WIS CHA PER
3 (T1, d2) 9 (T2, d3) 4 (T1, d2) 12 (T3, d4) 9 (T2, d3) 16 (T4, d6) 16 (T4, d6) 11 (T3, d4)

Tier Budget: 1+2+1+3+2+4+4+3 = 20. Budget for T2 Leader = 20. ✓

Note: The agathodaimon is a support creature, not a combatant. WIS T4 and CHA T4 reflect its divine insight and force of spiritual presence. Low STR and PHY — it has no physical body. It fights by buffing and protecting allies, not by attacking. The tier bump from T1 to T2 reflects the creature's capabilities (incorporeal, flying, buffing) — too much for a T1 Leader.

Stat Value
Attack (Sacred Touch, Fast) d6 (DTD) + d2 (PHY) Sacred. Exploding. (Attribute: PHY)
Health 12 + 4d4 + d6 (~26)
Resistance Budget 30: Cut 5, Cleave 5, Crush 5, Pierce 5, Puncture 5, Profane 0, Primal 3, Fire 2
Trials 1d4 + Attribute TD
Defense d6 (DTD) + d3 (AGI) + 1 (½sq) + applicable resistance. (Attribute: AGI)
AP 2
Speed 8 (40 ft) fly
Footprint ½ sq
Reach 5 ft

Passive:

Yazata (Sacred) (Classification, no slot). Immune to Sacred damage. Impotence on trials vs Profane damage. Connected to Sacred magic. (Classification package.)

Incorporeal (Passive. Ability slot 1). Attacks that deal mundane damage have Inferiority against it (dice cannot explode). Magical damage, including the magical portion of an enchanted weapon's hit, lands normally. The agathodaimon has no physical body. It can pass through solid objects but cannot end its turn inside one.

Abilities:

Sacred Blessing (2 AP, Action. Ability slot 2). All allies within 15 feet advance Fortified by 1 tier. Lasts 1 round.

Warn (1 AP, Reaction. Ability slot 3). When an enemy targets an ally within 30 feet, the spirit can alert them, granting +2 to their defense roll for that attack.
