Fili
She twists her swordbreaker, disarming the goblin of the pitted sword it had used to stab her companion who lay motionless on the ground. Lifting her other hand, she send a fan of flames into the creature's face, igniting its ragged clothing in fire. As it falls, smoldering to the ground, she begins to sing a dirge, the tendrils of magic wafting through the air to invigorate her allies, their eyes now alight with wrath and courage.
She is a Fili. A human skilled in battle, magic, and adventure, able to combine her wide skill set in unique ways that can make her unpredictable, though her mastery usually falls just short of those dedicated to a particular craft. Despite her variety, her ability to take on any task makes her an invaluable companion.

Leveled Abilities
You gain abilities below as you increase level.
Mortal
As a Mortal being, you have no innate damage immunity or vulnerability. You are connected to the Void magic form. Only Void magic can Charm, Control, summon, or banish you, or restore your mind (see Magic Mastery, Connected Form). All other magic affects you normally.
Filiic Lore
Level 1
You automatically advance in the Lore Skill Mastery. You begin with Untrained Mastery, gain Basic Mastery at level 3, Skilled Mastery at level 6, gain Expert Mastery at level 10, Master Mastery at level 15, and Grand Mastery at level 21. These skills do not count against your Skill Mastery points.
Telluric Magic
Level 1
You can cast telluric spells. You have a number of Magan, or spell points, equal to half your Wisdom score (rounded down). For each Wisdom Tier up to your current tier, roll the corresponding tier die and add the result. Each time your Wisdom Tier increases, roll the new tier die and add it to your magan. You recover magan through rest and sustenance (see Resting).
Each spell you cast reduces your available magan by the spell's magan cost.
- The DC of your spells is equal to your Mastery Level + your Wisdom Tier (maximum 14).
Training. You are trained by a Fili of at least Expert mastery or higher. At level one, when you select your Untrained forms, your mentor teaches you two spells. When you first reach Basic mastery in any form, your mentor teaches you an additional spell. When you first reach Skilled mastery in any form, your mentor teaches you a final spell.
Oral Tradition. You can also discover new spells at natural sacred sites (ley lines, faerie circles, sacred groves). You compose a mnemonic verse to encode the magical principle, then expand it through extended practice. Internalizing a spell requires a sacrifice or offering to nature worth magan² ss and takes 1 day per magan. Primal magic is oral tradition and cannot be written down. See the Magic Mastery chapter, Spell Sources and Discovery.
Fili Song
Level 1
You can weave magic through music and oral tradition. When you sing, you can either dedicate your concentration slot to maintain the song (freeing your actions) or spend 1 AP per round to maintain it (keeping your concentration slot open for a spell). You can cast spells while singing. Beginning a song costs 1 AP. The Dirge is a song and follows these rules.
Song Tier: Your Song tier is 1 at level 1 and increases by 1 at levels 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24 (Tier 7).
Songs Known: You learn songs as you advance.
| Level | Songs Gained |
|---|---|
| 1 | Morale Song, 1 Praise song |
| 4 | 1 Satire song |
| 8 | 1 Praise song |
| 12 | Saga of the Enemy or The Dirge, 1 Satire song |
| 16 | 1 Praise song |
| 20 | 1 Satire song |
| 24 | The other of Saga of the Enemy or The Dirge, 1 Praise song |
Song DC: Your Song tier + your Charisma tier. Targets roll the appropriate trial to resist.
Magan Cost: Songs cost magan per round equal to the tier of the effect being maintained (Tier 1 = 1 magan/round, Tier 2 = 2 magan/round, Tier 3 = 3 magan/round). The free morale song has no magan cost.
Advancing Tiers: A song always begins at Tier 1. Each round you maintain a song, you can choose to maintain the current tier or advance to the next tier at increased cost. You can also reduce the tier voluntarily by any number of tiers. When you advance a Satire to the next tier, each target rolls its trial again; only those who fail advance. Those who succeed remain at their current tier and remain affected.
Maintained Tiers: A Praise song is a lasting source: while you maintain it, it holds its tier on each ally within 30 feet (see Conditions, Lasting sources). At the start of each of your turns, the song restores any of its tiers an ally has lost. Restored tiers counter an opposing condition first, as normal. Satire songs do not restore; a target whose condition is cancelled is no longer affected by the song.
Swapping Songs: You can maintain only one song at a time. On your turn, you can stop a song and begin another. The old song ends and its conditions deteriorate normally; the new song begins at Tier 1 at the normal cost of 1 AP.
Satire Holds: A Satire is a lasting source. Once per turn, a held target can spend 1 AP on a trial against your Song DC, using the same attribute it used to resist; on success, the hold drops by 1 tier. A target that is Paralyzed or Enthralled cannot break free on its own. When a target's hold reaches 0, it is no longer affected and no longer counts toward the song's cost. You can voluntarily drop targets to reduce cost.
Ending a Song: When a song ends, whether you stop singing or can no longer maintain it, the conditions it held deteriorate normally (see Conditions).
Song Names: The names below are suggestions. You are encouraged to name your songs to reflect your character's history, culture, and experiences. A song that grants Inspired might be "The Lay of Sir Lyrian" for one Fili and "The Ballad of Thornwall" for another.
Praise Songs (Positive Conditions)
Praise songs apply a positive condition to allies within 30 feet while maintained.
Morale Song (Free). Allies within 30 feet gain Bonus +1 to attack rolls. Suggested names: Canticle of Courage, War Chant of the Shieldwall, The Marching Hymn.

Song of Vigor (1+ magan/round). Allies within 30 feet gain the Invigorated condition at the maintained tier. Suggested names: The March of Aldred's Host, The Ironworker's Anthem, Drumbeat of the Forge.
Song of Alacrity (1+ magan/round). Allies within 30 feet gain the Hastened condition at the maintained tier. Suggested names: The Rider's Gallop, Fleet-Footed Rhyme, The Windrunner's Reel.
Song of Warding (1+ magan/round). Allies within 30 feet gain the Warded condition at the maintained tier. Suggested names: The Lorekeeper's Refrain, Hymn Against the Dark, The Shielding Verse.
Saga Songs
Saga of the Enemy (2 magan/round). You recount the lore of a specific creature type you have studied. Allies within 30 feet gain your Lore passive benefit (Slayer, Warder, or Defier) against that creature type for the duration of the song. Suggested names: The Saga of Wyrm's Bane, The Chronicle of the Pale Court, Ode to the Fallen Fae.
Satire Songs (Negative Conditions)
Satire songs target intelligent creatures within 30 feet. Cost equals tier × number of affected targets per round.
Lullaby of the Lost (1+ magan/round per target). Each target must roll a Perception trial vs your Song DC or advance on the Impaired chain (Dazed → Stunned → Paralyzed). Suggested names: The Lullaby of the Lost, The Droning of the Deep, Whisper of the Weary.
Song of Shame (1+ magan/round per target). Each target must roll a Wisdom trial vs your Song DC or advance on the Demoralized chain (Shaken → Frightened → Panicked). Suggested names: The Satire of Grimbald the Fool, The Ballad of the Craven King, Mockery of the Vainglorious.
Song of Beguiling (1+ magan/round per target). Each target must roll a Wisdom trial vs your Song DC or advance on the Charmed chain (Lured → Beguiled → Enthralled). Suggested names: The Siren's Serenade, The Lover's Lament, Song of the Silver Tongue.
Dirge
The Dirge (2 magan/round). When an ally drops to 0 Health, you can begin singing. All allies within 30 feet gain Dominance on attack rolls against the creature that downed the ally. Lasts until that creature is dead or combat ends. Suggested names: Lament for the Fallen, The Avenger's Wail, Requiem of Wrath.
